CameraVision - Then and Now

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is often used to prevent and solve crimes, so it’s important that crimes are documented in a way that can be used by the police in their investigations. The picture quality must be good and the cameras must be correctly positioned for their purpose. It’s far too common to find cameras that record large areas of roof or give an overview of a room instead of a tighter angle with a good level of magnification.

Bengt-Göran Eriksson, who founded CameraVision, began his career in the security sector in the early 1970s. Over the years he has had many strings to his bow and his experience has been put to work in the company’s products.

A basic concept in CameraVision’s work is and has always been to position cameras more effectively by lowering them to eye level.
Traditionally, cameras are located high up, whatever their purpose, out of habit or as in the early days when cameras were large and the choice of housings was limited. But identification is harder if the camera is high up. The picture quality is poor or there is not enough information from the legal point of view during a trial.

Bengt-Göran has held most of the positions in the sector and has dealt with most of the needs of various groups of customers – from shops, banks and the legal system to local authorities, offices, industrial firms and so on. CameraVision’s first series-manufactured camera for eye-level mounting was produced thirty years ago. Since then a number of products have been developed along a consistent line. Our portfolio offers a wide range of camera solutions which can complement every type of camera architecture where good identification is needed.  The appearance of our in-house-developed products blends in and their positioning gives informative and functional image material.

Today, the company’s experience bank is a mix of Bengt-Görans hands-on work and long experience of security with Åsa’s background in broadcasting and work in TV production. The company has a standard range of niche products on which its operations are based. A considerable part of CameraVision’s operation are non-public solutions implemented in an existing environment. These are modified by CameraVision to optimally adjust to or improve the lighting conditions, location and other factors that affect picture quality and identification information.

CameraVision’s manufacturing plant and warehouse are located in the north of Sweden. All new production and series manufacture takes place initially under Bengt-Göran’s and Åsa´s supervision.

Today, Cameravision is growing in new geographical markets and with new camera components, but we are and will remain a family company which gives personal service. Our identification solutions are the best in the sector, thanks to innovative ideas which live up to their promises – giving added value and being capable of use for investigation purposes. With short lead times and genuine interest in our customers’ needs we will continue to develop standard solutions as well as customised products which don’t “look down” on people. We supply cameras that look people in the eye. Don’t hesitate to contact us for information of a CameraVision dealer in your region.
